Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Fighters Group
Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in strength within the urban setting.
Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of characters who will split off from the primary party to begin their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.
Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear mismatched, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
First, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing started the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile place.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the team reach locations they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter pledged a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This means them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to form the Explorers and Strategists parties.
Viewers can look forward to finding out which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
