An additional two individuals have been arrested in connection with a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to police.

A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

The arrests come after a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was among the injured during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and have since been discharged.

Police arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Authorities were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be pepper spray.

The attack - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
